I love you, Venice

Venice is one of the most photogenic cities on earth. I’m glad that I had an opportunity to photograph this city. I had about 400 shots of the city, and 90% of them are very good. The only negative thing that I have to say is the amount of tourists there especially in St. Mark’s Square, but again, the entire Italy is flooded with tourists in summer.

This is the famous Bridge of Sighs. It passes over the Rio di Palazzo that connects the old prisons to the interrogation rooms in the Doge’s Palace. The name of the bridge is given by Lord Byron, that prisoners would sigh at their final view of the city before being taken down to the cells.

This is the the most famous cafe of the world, Cafe Florian, located at St.Mark’s Square. Although the atmosphere and the view is superb, I decided to take a picture of it instead of spending 6 euro for a cup of coffee. Notice the slow shutter speed that I used. This picture is taken around 4 pm. I set my ISO to 50 and use smallest aperature, and I held my camera w/o a tripod for 1/4 sec…thanks to image stabilization!

This is St.Mark’s Square at night. again, because I didn’t have a tripod with me, I could only shoot with free hands!

This is a picture of my friend Mark taking picture of the crossing gondola. Because we were below a bridge at that time, the amount of light is minimal. and of course I did not have time to change my ISO and aperature when I only had 2 seconds for this shot, I try to hold my camera as still as I could. how do you like the effect?
